Tapping into your own intuition
It’s often said that all of the information you need is within you. Not a book, not a blog, not another person. I would say it’s true. You have the answers - either your mind, body or spirit can help shed light on what you need to do when you get overwhelmed. Here are some tips to help get you started. Remember to always listen to that inner voice.
1. Meditate and clear your head. It’s not that hard. I talk a lot about using the Insight Timer app. It’s free, and there are 2 minute meditations. It’s got a ton of meditations.
2. Start noticing with your senses. How does an idea sit with you when someone brings it up? Does it sound bad coming out of their mouth and going into your ear? Probably means it doesn’t resonate…
3. Check in with your body. We tend to compartmentalize body from mind. They are together – everything is connected. If you get an uncomfortable physical feeling when you’re trying to make a decision, pay attention. Do you feel light or heavy? Got a sick feeling in your gut?
4. Get away to make space for what is to come in. Your gut sense of knowing or intuition comes in when there is peace and quiet. For some, this is as simple as going out in nature but do what feels good to you in your gut.
5. Feel, don’t think. It is harder than it sounds.
The mind thinks, always chattering away, arguing with itself like a crazy person. Intuition, on the other hand, feels. See if you can differentiate whether you’re thinking or feeling.
