Burning the Veil: Day-by-Day

“A life lived constantly burns away veils of illusion, burns away what is no longer relevant, gradually reveals our essence, until, at last, we are strong enough to stand in our naked truth.” – Marion Woodman

This quote moved me today. It moved me in the sense that the longer we stay in some sort of quasi-arrested state (ie. lockdown), the more time we have with ourselves. Whether this is good or bad remains to be seen. I know I have days when I’m ready to snap my fingers and run maskless to the grocery store like a wild animal. I have days of sadness when I see people embracing or concerts packed with people. I don’t say this with darkness or negativity, it just is what it is right now. We are collectively tied, whether we are aware of it or not, to the situation at hand. This post isn’t really about the virus though.

It’s about having time alone with ourselves and how the longer we are with ourselves, alone, the more the veil strips away. We have more time to ponder our actions, fates, lives, how we are spending our time, what we are spending our time on, and how much we work, rest, play, laugh, and move. Are we living our lives more meaningfully now or is it just an arrested state where we cannot move forward? What does it mean? Who are we? Where do we go? How did this happen and again, what does it all mean?

When you strip away everything and you’re stuck in your home, how do YOU look to you? Are you standing in your naked truth? What is your naked truth?
